What makes Kindred Westcliff unique?

At Kindred Westcliff, children benefit from a large outdoor environment designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and adventure. Our spacious garden is at the heart of nursery life, with children encouraged to enjoy free-flow play and outdoor learning in all weather conditions.

Our outdoor space features a mud kitchen, construction area, vegetable patch, performance stage and a dedicated outdoor learning hub that acts as an extension of our preschool classroom. Children can explore, create, grow, build and perform, developing confidence and independence through hands-on experiences.

Our community extends beyond the nursery gates. Through regular local outings, close partnerships with families and visits from parents who share their professions and experiences, children are given valuable opportunities to learn about the world around them.

Combined with our long-standing, caring team, these experiences help create a warm and engaging environment where children feel confident, supported and inspired to learn every day.

Parent Reviews

  • "Kindred is the best nursery for both of my girls. Both of them have developed so much since attending. The staff are brilliant and always have something for the children to do. I would 100% recommend this nursery to anyone! The garden is also a massive selling point."

  • "My 19-month-old twins recently started here, used nurseries before for my other children but what has made this one different from the rest is how quickly I have seen my twins develop in just four weeks. Never have to worry about wipes or nappies as provided, the app is fantastic, that updates me throughout their day whilst I’m at work to reassure any concerns with their nappy changes, to what they have eaten and how much of it and pictures to see them enjoy the many activities that are put on throughout the day. Staff are always friendly and welcoming and always interested in the children’s welfare and what is best for them.
    Definitely recommend this nursery."

  • "My daughter has been attending Kindred Nursery (Westcliff) since October 2022 and I have nothing but positive words and experiences to say.
I am a mother who suffers with anxiety, so was very cautious and hesitant to send my daughter to nursery. However, upon reviewing the nursery during one of the open days, my daughter gravitated towards the nursery and the positive energy. She has grown and developed in so many ways and has built such close relationships with those who have looked after her. From things down to communicating with finances, bills, or day-to-day questions, Kindred has been there to help! Each day is fun filled with different activities, games, and ways to learn through song. My 2.5-year-old will come home singing different songs and telling us about her day. I just want to say thank you to the Kindred Westcliff staff! Would 100% recommend it to anyone looking at sending their children to a nursery!"

  • "We have two children at Kindred Westcliff with the eldest now being in Pre-School. We have experience of every room at Kindred and can say without fault, they have all been amazing. They have cultivated a true family feel to the nursery, so much so, that it feels like a home away from home for the children. The staff members are long-serving and consistent, which has gone a long way in helping to build trust. The staff are caring and put so much effort into the activities for the children. We've got a few more years with them yet, but would seriously consider having more children as I know we're going to miss the team at Kindred Westcliff so much when the youngest finally goes to school. Heartfelt thanks to the whole team there."

    Donna A

  • "We are very happy with the support and care given by everyone at Kindred Westcliff. We have two children there and both are always happy and developing well. Kindred have given them a fantastic start in life. The outside space was definitely a selling point, they both love the outdoors."

  • '"I have two children here and we're all so happy with it. My eldest is in preschool and has enjoyed every step up to it from the baby room. My youngest has just started there herself and has already established close bonds with the staff. It makes me so happy to see her big smile for them at drop off! The staff are just wonderful - I cannot sing their praises enough. The setting itself is so fun, with loads to do for the little ones. The outdoor space is what made me choose this nursery. The garden is huge and my son's highlights of his days always include being outdoors! I love to hear what they've been up to each day and am always impressed with the range of activities and learning. Thank you so much."

Kindred Westcliff Nursery and Pre-School FAQs

How do you build relationships with parents?

Building positive relationships with families is at the heart of everything we do. From regular daily conversations and Satchel updates to family events throughout the year, we create opportunities for families to feel involved in nursery life.

We host events including Mother's Day and Father's Day celebrations, graduation ceremonies, stay-and-play sessions, open days and a picnic for our new starters. These opportunities help families get to know our team, meet other parents and become part of our nursery community before their child's journey begins.

We also encourage parents to share their own experiences and professions with the children, helping to enrich learning and strengthen our partnership with families. Parents from the police, fire and ambulance services have visited the nursery to talk about their roles and introduce children to emergency service vehicles, giving them exciting real-world experiences and helping them learn more about the people who support their local community.

What links do you have with local schools to prepare my child for the next step?

We work closely with local schools to help children feel confident and excited about starting Reception. Teachers regularly visit the nursery, bringing photographs and information about school life for children to explore and discuss.

Children have opportunities to engage in role-play experiences based on school environments, including a school-themed home corner and exploring school uniforms. We also share information and guidance with families through our parent newsfeed, helping parents understand how they can support their child's transition at home.

Our approach focuses on developing independence, confidence and the skills children need for their next stage of learning, while maintaining strong communication with local schools to ensure a smooth transition.

Do you take the children out into the local community?

We believe children learn best when they can connect their experiences at nursery with the world around them. Throughout the year, children enjoy visits to local parks and shops, including trips to the local Tesco to buy ingredients for cooking activities, helping to bring learning to life through real-world experiences.

We are also proud to play an active role in our local community. Children, families and educators regularly come together to support a variety of charitable causes, including half marathon fundraising efforts, harvest and food bank collections for local families in need. Throughout the year, we host activities such as bake sales, guess how many sweets are in the jar competitions and fun fundraising challenges, including our popular Sponge the Practitioner event. Families are encouraged to get involved, helping children understand the importance of kindness, generosity and supporting others.

These experiences help children develop a sense of belonging within their community while encouraging them to make a positive difference to the people around them.

Do you have links with any local family hubs, charities, or support groups?

We work closely with a range of local services and support networks to help children and families access additional guidance when needed. We have strong links with the Local Authority and regularly access training and support opportunities, including SEND advice, behaviour management training and Makaton training to help better support children.

Our team also works with external professionals and support services, including Talking Tots, a service that supports children's speech, language and communication development and helps families access additional support beyond the nursery environment where appropriate. We welcome opportunities to meet with local professionals and can help arrange meetings within the nursery to ensure children and families receive the support they need.

What is the unique feel or ethos of your nursery team?

At Kindred Westcliff, we pride ourselves on creating a genuine family feel where children, families and educators build strong, lasting relationships.

Family Feel

Many of our families return to us with younger siblings, creating a real sense of continuity and community throughout the nursery. We take the time to get to know every child and family, helping everyone feel welcomed, valued and supported from the moment they join us.

Long-Standing Team

We are proud of our experienced and dedicated team, with many educators having been part of our nursery team for a number of years. Abi has been with the nursery for over 16 years, while our Deputy Manager, Gemma, has been part of the team for more than 10 years. With low staff turnover and familiar faces throughout the nursery, children and families build trusted relationships with the same educators throughout their early years journey, creating the warm, welcoming and community-focused environment that Westcliff is known for.
